- When
you arrive in the United States and have your initial briefing, you will be given the opportunity to apply for your Social
Security Card (a document needed for payroll purposes). Please decline the offer. When you arrive here in our office, we will
provide transportation to the nearest Social Security office. The waiting time is less, for the issue of the card, by about
4 weeks. The home address that you are to use, during your stay in America, is: Your name, Chesapeake House Travel Plaza,
P.O. Box 505, North East, MD 21901. Telephone number to use is (410) 287-9677. Waiting time for the card is approximately
6 to 8 weeks.
- If you do not follow the directions above and use any other address it will take double the amount of
time to get your Social Security Card, a document not only used for payroll purposes, but for banking, obtaining a 2nd job
(if desired), check cashing, etc. That will delay some of your benefits.
