BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE CHESAPEAKE HOUSE TRAVEL PLAZA (CHTP)
CHTP is a very busy food, beverage and retail rest stop along the busy I-95 which carries travelers along the eastern seaboard
from Florida to Maine. We are one of 3 travel plazas dotting the highways from Baltimore County through Harford and Cecil
counties. We are located midway between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland. An average of between 6000 and
7500 travelers make purchases each day during the off peak season and between 7500 and 12,000 per day during the peak season.
At this location we feature Burger King, Popeye's Chicken, Starbucks Coffee, Quiznos Subs, Cinnabon, and Freshen Frozen deserts.
There is also a well stocked Z-Market featuring "grab and go" hot and cold foods and personal comfort items. From
Memorial Day through Labor Day we feature a Country Market packed with fresh fruits, jams, jellies, candy and all those good
items. In addition we have a Travel Information Center and ATM facilities.

SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AND TOWNS. Our work force consists
of many foreign exchange university/college students, as well as local college and high school students. This unique employment
environment provides growth for the exchange students as well as the local students as they have an opportunity to learn about
each others customs traditions and ways of life. The Five communities surrounding the Chesapeake House are populated as follows:
Havre deGrace 15,841, Perryville 5,082, North East 12,496, and Elkton 38,231. Perryville, Havre deGrace, Port Deposit, and
Rising Sun provide our local employees. All of the communities are served by taxicab and some communities have inter community
bus service. However, the bus service does not extend to the interstate highway. We are 14 miles from Pennsylvania and 17
miles from Delaware and a few employees commute from there. These communities each have a rich historical background especially
in Agricultural, Military and industrial settings. Each of these communities have shopping centers, medical facilities and
retailers of medical supplies and hard goods. They each have a satellite county public library which provides opportunities
for computer use and reading enjoyment. There are many craft shops, museums, marinas, parks, and educational facilities for
those who want to take a course of two while working at CHTP. There is also a large opportunity for our student employees
to be able to obtain a second job in the community local to their lodging.

interstate highway, the area in which lodging is located is quickly accessible to work. We have made arrangements for
your lodging during your stay here in America. The Best Western Inn, 39 Elwoods Road, North East, Maryland, 21901 (www.bestwestern.com) (Tel # 410-287-5450) is the only HMSHOST Chesapeake House authorized
lodging facility and the only lodging facility to which we provide free transportation both to and from work at CHTP.

week room cost. This must be paid at the beginning and then the last week you do not have to pay as you paid it in the beginning.
The Inn is close to a Community College, a convenient store and a very good restaurant, the Cookery, which
caters to travellers and truckers alike. It also has given some of our students additional employment ,as a second job, if
interested. The Hotel is about 3 miles from the center of the town of North East. Make sure you bring your swim
wear. The swimming pool is great. Both new and used bicycles are available to purchase at a low cost if you desire to
